Wind is a small but important function, as it carries clouds across the map, and is a dangerous effect of natural disasters.

Direction[]

The direction of the wind depends on where you are. In most of the world, the wind current goes in a clockwise direction around the map, with an additional current coming from the left of the map and a current going to the right of the map. The glass desert tends to be calmer, and the wind tends to come from the top left of the map. A change in the direction of the wind indicates that something is wrong.

Strength[]

The most important, and dangerous, aspect of wind is the tendency to create disasters by it's sheer strength. Here is a scale of the strength -and it's effects. Wind is randomly generated each day.

Levels 1-2[]

It is physically impossible to have no wind -on days without wind, there is wind, but nobody can feel it. The only effects of this are that clouds move, but very slowly. Days like these are quite common.

Levels 3-4[]

Plants (except tree trunks) and snowflakes visibly blow in the wind, but other objects do not.

Levels 5-6[]

This type of wind is stronger, but it's still normal. Small objects will slowly blow away on the ground, but slimes do not. Snow will blow around a little bit. Clouds move faster.

Levels 7-8[]

This is risky territory, and it's rare -every once in a while it happens. It is strong enough to push items across the ground, but it can't pick anything up. However, it usually only becomes a thunderstorm or snowstorm, and is generally not a problem, unless you're in the glass desert, where it causes a sandstorm.

Levels 9-10[]

This level only happens during a hurricane, blizzard, or very severe sandstorm. In fact, usually, those disasters are a result of the wind level, as snow becomes a whiteout and sand blows around only during these conditions -hurricanes are the only disaster where this is the other way around. It is strong enough to hinder mobility and pick up items, and level 10 is strong enough to pick up slimes, trees, and boards from wooden structures (pay to replace them), and blow around chunks of rubble that may occur.

Wind Chill[]

When it's below 15 degrees outside, any wind above level 4 can induce wind chill. It's an uncomfortable inconvenience for most slimes, but it is dangerous to slimes that have extra appendages, like ears, tails, or wings, because those slimes can get frostbite.
